New Commission.....

I have heard so many people's opinions lately about this new commission, and yet I feel I have not heard enough. haha!! Such a conundrum to be in.

A gentleman has contracted me to make a painting to go with his poem, that he can sell the poem printed on the print of the painting. I will retain the rights to sell prints of the painting itself.

Now, this has the potential to sell well. He does not want to be bothered with royalties. Some have told me to really price it high. Well, here's what I have to say.

I will price it at twice my normal price. I can still sell the prints. Sure, he has the ability to sell millions of these. I won't get much of that. So what? I can tell people millions have sold. That will make me more marketable. I am not in it for the money right now. I am in it to help this gentleman sell his really cool poem, and to be more marketable, and to have boasting rights. I do not see the need to be greedy. When the time comes that he wants me to do more, if they sell well, then I can raise my price. I am just please that God answered my prayer for another commission. :) this means a better Christmas for me and my family, and that's good enough for me!!! That, and the fact I HAVE to go take pictures of wolves, and well, that just breaks my little heart, as you can imagine!!!

Getting it all figured out

There's so much more to blogging than just 'blogging' your thoughts onto the computer. There's "what am I going to say today'. Then there's "what template shall I use", and "how do I link it to this or that?". "How do I customize it myself" is frustrating for me, because I do not know 'html'. I want my blog to look like 'me', but if you do not know how to do that, well, you have to make do. I guess I will have to work on my friends who can do html, and THEY can design a template for me!! haha... that's SO much easier, don't you think?

Then next, I have to figure out how to link it to my facebook, and this will ONLY be my art blog. the other one turned into a personal venting, and I have decided not to go that route with this. Art, and only art. Going to see how this pans out!!! I am excited to share my journeys on each canvas with you all, though words cannot convey the feeling I get when I am into my own world of paint and canvas!!! But, you will get a glimpse, anyway, when I get it all figured out!!

'the cat'

"The cat" is a current leopard that I am working on. This morning, I have finally made her cheek on the left side look how I want it, and am hoping to get her face completed this afternoon. I have been toying with background ideas and might work on that if I have enough time as well. I am not happy with the boring background as it is, and have some ideas. I am so excited to continue it. I will post another progress 'report' shortly. I do not yet have a title, but once the background comes out, maybe I will have one!! Cats have always been challenging to me, but it's always been all in my head! This one has fun challenges and I am determined to get the picture I have in my head on the canvas!!! It is impossible to convey the joy of watching a painting emerge from the canvas....even if it poses challenges along the way!!
