Teaching art classes soon!!!

Now, I do not fancy myself as a great artist, but I do possess some art skills and knowledge that I have gained over the years, and so I hope that I can coherently pass them on to kiddos and other beginners.  Art is all around us.  Things that give us pleasure, the inside the heart kind of pleasure, are all around us.  For me, I find it in nature.  But each of us finds beauty in different places.  We like to capture that which creates emotion in us.  Hopefully by crossing the "I don't know how to do it " barrier, , I can encourage kiddos to be more bold and less fearful, and work to capture that which captures their own hearts!!!

Commission with tetons

My recent painting was a commissioned portrait with the Grand Tetons in the background.  Thank heavens for my mom's photography (http://www.gwenmorgan.com/) and for deviant art, in which i got a photo permission to use.  So, I plopped a person in front of a scenic view of the Tetons in front of a river, that was very calm and reflective.  he was fun to do, and came together very nicely!!  I really need to work on skin tones, and on lighting, both for the landscape and the people, because it just did not feel as bright and sunny as it should have.  I did  not do a lot of detail in the tetons, because I wanted the human to stand out more.  I did include a few story details in the painting, such as the black bear, and a fish he's not been able to catch yet, and some lavender because the client loves lavender.  :)  Creating such stories is so fun!!! I did just realize the tops of the mountains are cut off... my apologies!  well, you get the idea anyway!!  :) 

Next is a horse commission, and I will post on that soon!!

The beginnings of "Life is Good".....

When I saw this photo, I just HAD to paint it!!!  The couple drew out so easily onto the canvas... it was awesome!!!  Lions are such beautiful creatures, and I am partial to cats anyway...  especially the big ones.   I am in full support of Animal conservation, especiallly regarding these beautiful species, and all their cousins. "Life is Good", depicts a "happy couple" in a beautiful , harsh setting.....  just like life for real.

The painting will begin next week.  I am excite for this new project!!!  :)))
